YSL BEAUTY GROWS A PLACE OF CHANGE,
TODAY AND FOR THE FUTURE

THE OURIKA COMMUNITY GARDENS.
AN ENVIRONMENTAL & BIODIVERSITY LABORATORY
CULTIVATED BY A COMMUNITY OF WOMEN

Since 2014, at the foothills of the Moroccan Altas Mountains, YSL beauty has grown a place of change:
The OURIKA COMMUNITY GARDENS.
The independance of the community of women cultivating its plants impulses change in the region.
The botanicals we grow thanks to regenerative and organic cultivation defies the hardest conditions and sparks new sustainable innovations.
The biodiversity we restore thrives far beyond our walls for life to burst.
FIERCE. WILD. DARING.
Driven by our legacy of experimentation we grow a place of change
today and for the future.

STEP INSIDE THE OURIKA
COMMUNITY GARDENS

YSL Beauty grows a place of change today and for the future:
The Ourika Community Gardens. An environmental
& biodiversity laboratory cultivated by a community of women.

CULTIVATE
WOMEN’S
INDEPENDENCE

By supporting the creation of a cooperative to harvest and take care of the gardens, YSL Beauty continues the uninterrupted dialogue with women whom the designer saw as free and confident heroines. This social program promotes local craftsmanship while fostering women’s financial independence and inspires change across the region.

POWERFUL BOTANICALS
TO SPARK INNOVATION

The botanicals YSL Beauty grows spark new sustainable
innovations. Morocco’s Atlas region offers an extreme climate, with
searingly hot summers and bitingly cold winters. This land of
contrasts brings out the best in botanicals. The Ourika Community
gardens shelters more than 200 resilient plants which are carefully
extracted using environmentally conscious processes. Today, 17
exclusive ingredients are grown for YSL beauty skincare and
makeup. In 2025 the program expands into fragrance.

REGENERATIVE AND ORGANIC
CULTIVATION for
BIODIVERSITY TO THRIVE

Regenerative cultivation and organic practices have been a core principle in the creation of the OURIKA COMMUNITY GARDENS. Conceived by two garden designers, Ossart and Maurières, the vast main garden with its four open walls and square fountain, follows ancestral techniques specific to the region.

Water flows naturally from the Atlas Mountains down to the parcels. The drystone terraces are home for lemon trees alongside irises, saffron, marigold, cacti, and jasmine.
Further away, zinnias or colorful birds of paradise pay tribute to Mr Saint Laurent’s love of gardens.
